Nuruosmaniye Mosque Gate, Grand Bazaar
Original |
Outside the pay toilets of the 18th Century Nuruosmaniye Mosque gate
to the Grand Bazaar. This 21st Century kiosk has all the mod cons,
including a chair and a saucer to collect spent pennies. Another gem
from our Istanbul correspondent.
As the rays of heavenly light in the picture herald, this is a rare and lovely sight in the city: a public toilet with an attendant's kiosk. Marvel at how relaxed (and relieved) the tourists in the foreground are, so much so that time can be spared tickling the cat before entering the bazaar proper.
