Tophane-I Amire

Several standard white kiosks located around the old Ottoman canon ball foundry Tophane-i Amire, which lends its name to the district (top = ball, hane = ache).

The foundry is now an art exhibition space connected to Mimar Sinan Art School a few hundred metres down the road. It also hosted President Obama in 2009 when he made his first presidential address to the Muslim world.
