Our correspondent writes: "A silent sentinel at the gate where Mehmet the Conqueror tore down that wall, this solitary kubule appears well-positioned to prevent historical repetition. Though fully wired to support all mod-cons and easy for visitors to reach via marble steps, the lonely kulube stands vacant, spotless, virginal. Opportunity squandered."
