Uludag taxi hut
Kiosk 142: Uludag Taxi Hut.
"Located at 1813 metres above sea level, this taxi kiosk may just be one
of the highest in Turkey. Approximately a one-hour drive from the
automotive manufacturing city of Bursa, the mountaintop skiing village
of Uludag sees it's fair share of snowfall in the winter months, hence
the need for corrugated steel walls around the interior fiberglass shell
of this lovely kiosk. Boasting the requisite Ataturk photo and electric
heating elements, this kiosk also has a natural spring water fountain
steps from the door, providing an endless supply of water for the ever
present teapot inside. Additionally, it features two satellite dishes
for receiving Bursaspor football matches and tear-inducing Turkish folk
music from the likes of Bulent Ersoy. And, though the location may be
seasonal for the bulk of traffic to and from the village, the average
trip to and from Bursa runs an average of 100 lira, making the view and
money earning potential of this location an real winner."
