A walk through Eminönü

The contents of this quadruplex on the waterfront at Eminönü are obscured by whited-out windows, yet on the forecourt is an ad hoc refreshment stand operated by two young urchins. This plaza is at the busy intersection of the Eminönü bus terminal, the end of the Galata Bridge and several ferry lines. But still no customers visit the refreshment cart.

UPDATE: January 27, 2013. Turyol Bogaz Tour Ticket Office. Ticket office selling seats aboard Turyol's scenic tours of the Bosphorus. In the background can be seen the domed roof of one of the few authentic Ottoman-style fish-grilling boats tethered to the Eminönü shoreline. They pitch and yaw wildly in the wake of passing ferries as the authentically-dressed Ottoman grill-men flip authentic fillets of locally imported Norwegian mackerel.

UPDATE: April 13, 2013. This randomly placed white monoplex was gone almost as soon as it appeared. Its purpose is unknown.

UPDATE: April 4, 2014. A stout quadruplex housing the plaza's Zabita (commercial police), whose main duties include driving around in a large collection of mostly electric-powered vehicles and smashing up tables and chairs outside restaurants.

UPDATE: July 17, 2014. The Bosphorus boat tour and passenger ferry port in front of Yeni Cami.

UPDATE: August 3, 2014. View from the ferry of Saray Burnu.
